Not even a pipe? It’s a pirate ship for f***’s sake.

  2. Huggy Bear says:

    wait… WHAT???????????????????????????

  3. Kanchou says:

Heh! Wonderful. The kanji says “kaisatsuguchi” (ticket barrier), while “pirate ship” is “kaizokusen”. Was the mistake made before they even tried to translate it?

  4. Luddite says:

is that a Union Jack on the “pirate ship”?

    • Kanchou says:

I think it’s meant to be a stern-wheeler. With sails. And a foremast mounted atop the end of its bowsprit. Ingenious…

    • Dan says:

No, it’s not. But it wouldn’t be surprising if it were. Pirates were primarily engaged in warfare between Spain and Britain, so from the English perspective, we expect pirates to be Spanish. But the most extensive use of piracy, and the most horrific acts, were by the British. Of course, the use of a black flag was so the King / Queen could diplomatically deny involvement in terrorism… so you wouldn’t actually SEE a union jack on British pirates.

  5. Kate says:

    I’ll mount YOUR foremast!

  6. Mephiles says:

Pirate ship, you aren’t allowed to smoke, but everyone else can. ;p

  7. sbd says:

Does the second sign mean no gays allowed?

  8. purdlemeow says:

I don’t think real pirates will pay much attention to the sign. They are “guidelines”, after all…

  9. MaxwellEdison says:

Yarr…I not be knowin too much about the sailing o the ship. But i do be knowin that thar pufferstick ye be givin yer lip service to do carry a stern warning from the Sawbones Admiral.
P.S. I want to start a movement to rename emphysema as ’squid-lung’. Who’s with me?!

  10. momo says:

haha i know this boat. i went on that during my trip to japan. it was when we went to hakone, i think. we rode the boat back instead of the train.

  11. Jake says:

Well of course you should a pier before the embarkation. If you a pier after, you’ve missed the boat.

    • MaxwellEdison says:

      Missed the boat?
      -
“was it ever worth it? was there all that much to gain?
well we knew we’d missed the boat and we’d already missed the plane
we didn’t read the invite, we just danced at our own wake
all our favorites were playing so we could shake shake shake shake shake
tiny curtains opened and we heard the tiny clap of little hands
a tiny man would tell a little joke and get a tiny laugh from all them folks
and drifting around on bubbles and thinking it was us that carried them
when we finally got it figured out that we’d truly missed the boat”

No real reason for this connected rebuttal other than to pass on this earworm.

    • ThyGoblinking says:

That’s the punniest comment so far!

  12. catya says:
