Can we get past the “first” crap every time? *sigh*
What the hell is this *supposed* to say? I mean, I’m totally in agreement and all, but still…
You wouldn’t understand, trolling is for cool people only (?)
O RLY? Welcome to the internet sir
This is funny. Even if they had translated the first symbol correctly the sentence would still make no sense. ‘Dry the certain prices of goods’. Nope still sounds pretty weird…
makes more sense with the total mistranslation
I’m just as confused as you. Something else has been fucked up here, and not just the certain price of foods…
I wonder if at somepoint someone caught the translator on the wrong day inquiring how to translate “dry” into engrish, and he was just like “F*CK!” and it got stuck like that from then on…?
yeah i don’t get why the translating machine thingamajig they use keeps translating dry as fuck. lol.
It’s not “dry”, it’s “deal with”. The character means both, depending on context. this sign basically says “place to check prices”.
at least that’s my opinion.
I dunno. The way prices of food are raising right now, I kind of feel that way about some of them.
That sign speaks truth, just shoplift… everyone needs to eat
Food insecurity perhaps
the way it says ‘certain’ implies that perhaps the sign means they’re going to raise the prices
O RLY???
Darn, must be in Chinese. The second character isn’t in the kanji lookup. Still, it makes me wonder. With the pervasiveness of all these translations of the same symbols…perhaps there’s a very disgruntled translator out there?
YEAH! F THESE PRICES!!!! THEY TOOK R JOB!!! DURK A DURR!!!!!!
Why is it that it can say fuck in the picture, we can say fuck in the comments, but the heading and subtitle of said picture has to be censored?
I think it has to do with the old saying what does that have to do with the price of rice in china
I’ll take a wild guess at “Cheap Dried Goods” - or sumfin.
HELLZ YEA!! mah corn beees to expensive.
I am in total agreement with this sign.
my friend from singapore says that the word for dry and for fuck are the same in chinese. he says this is a weighing station in a store to weigh and price what you want to purchase.
uhm meaning to weigh and price dry goods
Ok so I had my Chinese assistant re-translate after she got up off the floor laughing. Basically it is a section in the supermarket that sells loose dry goods. You fill your bag and go to this place to have the dry goods weighed and priced prior to proceeding to the checkout.
The word for “dry” and “fuck” are similar but the context should clearly delineate…I said “should!”
So a more correct but far less amusing translation would be “Weigh Dry Goods here.”
The “dry” versus “fuck” makes a whole lot more sense on all these signs. Thank you for explaining that.
Hear hear!
dried and fuck reads the same in chinese
Yeah, fuck em.
that’s what I think when I’m shopping
In Mandarin, the character means “dry”. In a dialect, it means “fuck”. Chinese has a large number of dialects. U can haz edjumacayshun nao.
