It’s like they took the original script, kicked George Lucas in the face, folded the script into an origami goose, tore it into 6 neat little squares, fed the squares to a velociraptor, threw the velociraptor into a blender, tricked an old person into eating the remains, and then took what didn’t look like crap the next day.

Actually, you’re not too far off. They took the movie dialog, badly translated it into chinese (and yes, I am chinese. We do some funny stuff.). Then, with worse quality, they translate it back into english (engrish). I’ve seen people’s names get turned into orange juice brands, Seen long names get turned into like Tom or Bob. Seen literal translations of words and names (Don’t go there, Drip White! Watch out! Estetic red!). Not only that, NPR’s Wait, wait, don’t tell me (http://waitwait.npr.org) had this subtitle in their quiz show. I know this seems so funny that you doubt it’s authentic. But, as a chinese, I can say this is real (and I’ll find this pirate one day just to keep in my library) and engrish is one of my guilty pleasures.

Whatever’s next?? Episode 2: Attack of the Clowns??? In fact it’s nearly as bad as Dave Prowse (The guy in the Vader Costume) believing that George Lucas would use his voice as the voice of Vader. Considering that he comes from the West Country, and he sounds like one of those West Country Farmer. You can imagine the scenes that would have to be changed – “Oooh arr Luke. Oi be your father”, or when Vader arrives on Death Star II, the Imperial March plays, and Vader walks down the gangplank with a bit of corn sticking out of his helmet with the sound of sheep coming from the interior of the shuttle or Vader shouting at the rebels “OI Rebels, Gerroff me Death Star”
I guess that’d actually be WAY better then most Star Wars spoofs out there

If anyone still doubts this is real, you can watch the whole thing on youtube. Search for “Star war the third gathers backstroke of the west” and you’ll find all 14 parts. Much more fun to watch than the official version, engrish Yoda is sometimes easier to understand. Alot of good subtitles didn’t make this highlight reel.
