Thas

Seems a bit off this is posted here, as it is not an attempt to be written in english.

It’s correct danish and roughly means

“in motion”/”in use”
“To this location”

PureEvil

we are not forgiven people

CLOG

Are you always this funny?

tinascratch

No doubt. Are you available for parties, Thas?

Dan

“i fart” means “in use” in Danish! I so want to make sure that all the bathroom stalls in Denmark notify people when they are already in use!

Engrish, it’s not… but come on, it’s funny.

Loh Phat

Reventlowsgade is the street on the west side of Copenhagen’s main train station.

jamar

So combined with the knowledge above, that means there’s a button to make the street move? Why?

Mitti

It might not be a bad translation, but it’s still funny.
By the way how many Danes are looking at this page? There’re four posts so far and three of them are from Danes (I’m one too). Just wondering.

Linlin

It’s not even a BAD translation, dude. It’s a NO translation.

Chris Leduc

Jeg elsker danmark også ;-)

Tordenflesk

Jeg er halvt dansk. Teller det? ;)

Xtreme

Nice navn! Og ja det teller da! :)

Alex

Nej, man er ikke dansk hvis man ikke kan stave til tæller x)

AB

Han er egentilg en nordmann som prøver å skrive dansk. :)

Dan

I’m dan. Does that count?

stablercake

I’m not danish o _o;

BUT I REALLY WANT A DANISH NOW

Kanchou

And with the iFart, Apple enters yet another market.

jordanwb

ROFL, good one Kanchou

robzmom

kanchou, that is the funniest thing i have ever read in a comments section. congratulations on a fantastic sense of humor.

bravo.

Pio

This must be why Apple rejected that fart generator from AppStore! It would totally steal their market share for the iFart..

I fart, you fart, we all fart for iFart! Nah..

Klerud

That’s Danish, not even an attempt at English.

wickedwitch

Don’t press that button.

Elsarild

I’m danish, lal,

Anyhow, i still laugh when dutch ppl write in dutch but it looks funny in english, so it dosn’t make a diffrence, except that i know what this means xD

Bleepy Thing

As a Dutch person I completely agree with your post however then vice versa.

Pejter

geetard

Pretentious White Girl

We fart, You (pl) fart, They fart.

Thetrace360

This whole mini convo reminds me of that episode of Sponge Bob, when Sponge Bob is messing around with Mermaid Man’s belt. “I wumbo, you wumbo, he, she, we wumbo! It’s First grade!!!”

Xtreme

JJ

There are also signs in Denmark reading “FARTKONTROL” and other funny stuff. “Fart” is Danish for speed og motion (as other posters have pointed out already).

Pretentious White Girl

Fartkontrol??? *SNORT* Note to self; don’t look at Engrish in the library.

Sir Gallivant

Plenty Danes around here, it seems, count me in their (or should that be “our”?) number.

Rumour has it that when Queen Elizabeth II once visited Denmark, those signs in the elevators were hidden so as not to embarrass her Majesty.

Sara

Danish sucks, go Sweden! ;)

Pejter

Nice joke, and a way to piss some people off. But let’s NOT.
I’m from Skåne, so I know how it feels to be in the so-called Danish Sweden.

As for the pic above - it is funny, because farts are funny, no matter in which language and whether or not they actually mean “fart” at all.

Pretentious White Girl

I concur! Farts are funny, regardless of age, language, or actual meaning.

Tom Trifik

TRUE & REAL FACT!

Kangaroos Do Not FART!

Dan2025

I have half a mind to think that people laugh at the word even when they don’t understand English. There’s just something magical about that word.

Koji Tojo

I don’t know what that means, but
I chose “hertil”

Autumn

Well it’s just the same thing about this being correct danish than with the MEGAPUSSI, it’s not a bad translation, it means bag in finnish. I didn’t see anyone complaining about that though. But I still think both of those are funny and don’t really see why engrish funny couldn’t stand for things that seem funny in english even if they are correct in other languages…

fpage77

In Soviet Russian fart farts you.

—- ok I tried :/

Dan2025

Try harder next time. You can do better!

tinascratch

How about,
In Soviet Russia hertil farts you.

Yeah, okay, I’m out too.

Obligated

oh shi-
apple went and did it again.

Or did steve jobs just have too many beans?

dustbunni

In Soviet Russia, elevator farts in you?

dustbunni

or “on you” works better (was going with the theme “fart in the elevator”

Alex-X-x

there should be another button: you fart.

Whip

Push button for megapussi fart kontrol? In soviet Russia, farts control YOU

ittybittykittycatherine

Russian reversal WIN!

Tant

Please tell me “hertil” is not Danish for Follow through

Buzz Killington

despite it not being a translation… I still find it humorous, I apologize

Kelponia

I think it might be worth the time just to count how many Engrish post pages start out with “well, actually this is not Engrish…” From linguistic niceties to debates on the nature of what, exactly, constitutes funny, it seems to be a prevalent topic. I shall call those counters The Funny Police.

Venturer

I’m Danish too, and I’m still laughing.
When my parents first went to Australia they met an old couple who had visited DK years back. They asked my folks what “i fart” ment because they had seen it in an elevator and had been wondering for years what the heck it ment.

Btw… We also have a city called “Middelfart” :D
